The Famous Blacksmiths Shop is the ancient building that made Gretna Green famous. The building has stood in Gretna Green since 1713 and was the earliest destination for runaway couples fleeing to marry in Gretna Green since 1754. This original room accommodates up to 45 guests.

The original marriage room, a true historic wedding venue in Gretna Green, is as it was in the 1700s. Two additional marriage rooms have been created: The Saddlery (up to 35 guests) and the Rennison Room (up to 10 guests). The Rennison Room is named after the last anvil priest who worked here until 1962.

Situated beside the village green, not far from Smiths hotel, is the historic Gretna Hall hotel. Built, in 1710 as a mansion house, it soon became host to Gretna Green Anvil marriages for the rich and famous still looking to elope in secret!

Now a part of the Gretna Green family, not only does it have 3 beautiful marriage rooms, it is also a 90+ bedroom hotel. The perfect luxury wedding venue in Gretna Green.

Old Toll Bar - First and Last House in Scotland, Gretna

Another wonderful and truly unique, intimate marriage venue, is The Old Toll Bar, built in 1830. The first and last house on the Scottish side of the England Scotland border, The toll bar was originally built as the toll house for visitors crossing into Scotland. However, with thanks to the 1754 marriage act, it soon became a popular stop for couples looking for a quick, anvil marriage before returning to England or carrying on their onward journeys north.

Nowadays, it is still a magical wedding venue, for small weddings and is also a cosy cafe and bistro, available to hire for private functions whatever your chosen celebration.
