Our family has owned the World Famous Blacksmiths Shop for over 150 years; weddings have taken place here in Gretna Green for over 250 years.
We designed and opened Smiths Hotel in 2006 opposite the World Famous Blacksmiths Shop to enhance the Gretna Green wedding experience.

The last of the original ‘Blacksmith Priests’, Richard Rennison worked for our family until 1962. We have upheld the traditions and spirit of Gretna Green by mixing ancient with modern, creating a unique wedding experience for you.

Our 2009 awards include an AA Rosette for food, Wedding Hotel of the Year, Business Excellence Award, Manager Excellence Award and Wedding Team of the Year. Our experienced hotel team - Head Chef, Functions Manager, Restaurant Manager, Sales Manager, Reservations Manager and Head Housekeeper, led by our General Manager have been together since the hotel opened. This team uses their expertise and knowledge to design and deliver the perfect occasion for you.
